  will provide an overview of our efforts to speed up modelling and design 
 tasks of performing plasmas using surrogate modelling\, and of how we are 
 exploiting large experimental databases for model validation and predictiv
 e tasks. I will conclude the talk with an hopefully sensible vision of the
