Inspiration in the classroom plays a key role in encouraging young people to see a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths as being exciting, engaging, and with good prospects. This is why the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), one of the world’s leading research institutions in fusion energy, has launched a new one-day Workshop for Physics teachers at KS3, KS4 and A-Level.
This Workshop, which will be held at Sherwood Observatory, Nottinghamshire, on Saturday, 15 February, 2025, is part of an enhanced investment into schools outreach facilitiated by UKAEA’s Fusion Opportunities in Skills, Training, Education and Research (FOSTER) programme.
Topics for discussion will include an introduction to fusion energy; an introduction to STEP; and an overview of the current global landscape for fusion energy research. In addition there will be a careers panel discussion featuring representatives from UKAEA, Tokamak Energy, and the University of Nottingham, along with representatives from industry, together with insight from event partner, The Ogden Trust, into how to apply fusion concepts in the classroom.
This is a fully funded event, including lunch and refreshments.
