Harnessing Embodied Intelligence for Defence & Security in Hazardous Environments

Hosted by UKAEA and OBCRDSC

The rapid advancements in Embodied Intelligence – the convergence of AI and robotics - are transforming operations in complex and hazardous environments in both industrial and defence environments.  These intelligent machines can sense, learn, and act in places that are too dangerous for humans, from hazardous material handling to explosive ordnance disposal, search and rescue.

This event will explore how artificial intelligence can directly experience and interact with the physical world and undertake tasks that previously could only be completed by humans. This is no longer the future: these capabilities are here today and have the potential for use in a variety of defence and security applications in complex and dangerous environments such as EOD and Search, CBRN response, IED/mine detection, and confined spaces (subterranean warfare and urban operations).

This exclusive event, hosted jointly by the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and the Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Chilterns Regional Defence and Security Cluster (OBCRDSC), will explore the role of fixed and mobile automation in high-risk, dual-use environments, aligning with upcoming investments in UK facilities and support equipment, and multi-agency defence and security missions.
