Welcome to MRF-II Facility Launch Event!
UKAEA is pleased to invite you to a launch event for the MRF-II facility, which will offer the following capacities to characterise nuclear materials:
- MIAMI-2 (Microscopes and Ion Accelerators for Materials Investigations) - a world-leading facility for the study of radiation damage in materials currently located at the University of Huddersfield. MIAMI-2 simulates the effects of radiation damage and helium formation in materials via dual implantation of heavy ions and alpha particles, serving as a proxy for neutron irradiation effects.
- TRITIMAP (TRITium Imaging and MAPping infrastructure) – to be a globally unique facility with tritium-compatible Nanoscale Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (NanoSIMS), Focussed Ion Beam Time of Flight SIMS and atom probe tomography (APT) combined capability for mapping and quantification of tritium across length scales.

Additional tours of the UKAEA JET facility and Materials Research Facility (MRF) will be available to those who are interested.
