Welcome to the UKAEA Materials Research Facility (MRF) Webinar - Capabilities Update and Funding Opportunities
As part of its mission in leading the delivery of sustainable nuclear fusion energy and maximise the associated scientific and economic benefits, the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) operates the Materials Research Facility (MRF) which has the capabilities to prepare and examine samples of irradiated materials to assess the effects of radiation damage and materials’ performance in nuclear reactors.
A recent extension has funded the addition of two new hot-cells for mechanical testing of large, irradiated samples, and progress is being made in the commissioning of robotic sample handling for the MRF’s scientific equipment.
This webinar will provide an update on the current capabilities available to the MRF’s users and funding opportunities to collaborate with the MRF, as well as an overview of new capabilities coming online in 2027. Use cases highlighting recent MRF experimental campaigns will also be presented by invited speakers.
